Like Grandma

Hello and welcome! I want to share with you my hobby. I learned knitting and crocheting when I was a child from the most wonderful person I´ve ever knew, my Grandma, my mom´s mother. I used to spend hours and hours with her. I miss her so much. With this blog I want to show my praise, thank and love to her, hoping I can meet other knitters/crocheters and exchange patterns, projects and ideas as I did with Grandma!

Friendship Day Socks

It´s a pleasure for me to announce that… I finished a project! Using the most beautiful sock yarn that Corina bought in Berlin, I knitted a pair for her. And I finished it just in time for Friendship Day - which is next Monday here. We spent the Saturday afternoon together at the Soho and after the walk and window shopping we went to Starbucks and I gave her the package with the handknitted socks.

Yarn: Regia – Jacquard Color # 5242, Made in Italy

Pattern: They are my first Toe-Up Socks. At the beginning I followed Cat Bordhi´s directions on You Tube (Judy Becker´s Magic Cast On) and I used two circulars needles mixing two tutorials I found on Ravelry (Toe Up Heel Flap Sock Tutorial by Andrea Mules and Toe Up Socks on Two Circulars Needles by Kirstin Bellehumer)

Dear Corina my friend, enjoy them!

German Sock Yarn

My dear friend Corina went to Berlin and came back with many surprises specially for me! You can see her at the picture taken with my cell the morning we met each other again, and she started to show me the gifts... Sock Yarn! I´m very grateful! You know what, Corina doesn´t knit at all - that´s why the yarn she bought is extra-double-special. You know how non-knitters feel overwhelmed at yarn shops. Corina THANK YOU!!! I can´t wait to start knitting the socks!

Overloaded

I was glad when I found this at "Diario del Viajero" to share with you. At least something to post here! I miss knitting and blogging very much. Mr. May was a crazy month and I´m feeling kind of overloaded. New job and studies. Please, Mr. June have mercy with me, I need to finish the ladybug and I wish to start many new projects! The knitting stand is watching me… Have a nice weekend!

Go Green

The outdoor blanket is finished! Yeah! Just in time for this sunny beautiful Fall we are having here! I used five shades of green (two seem yellow in the pictures, but nope they are green) and to knit the squares I selected three patterns from Jan Eaton´s book (bible) “200 Knitted Blocks to Mix and Match” Here my secretary posing for the picture, so you can get an idea of the real size of the blanket... This is a very interesting link about 10 Ways to Go Green - you can also subscribe for a newsletter. And here the three chickens from last Easter weekend…

Easter Week

Fall arrived here and I feel like knitting again! I googled for an Easter project and I finally found in Ravelry somehow what I wanted. I did many changes to the original pattern (Easter Chick Egg Cozy by Cathy Mangaudis). Just to mention one of them, I stuffed and sewed it, instead of placing an Easter egg inside. If you´re interested, you´ll find the detailed explanation about the modifications at my Ravelry. Now that I finished this first one, I´ll need to hurry up and complete a couple more – I know there´ll be happy ones getting this handmade small gift next Easter Sunday!
